VenueLa Seine Musicale
CalendarWed 28 Apr 2027 - Fri 30 Apr 2027
Synopsis/Details

An augmented 360 recital – Adrien Mondot and Vanessa Wagner

Since its opening, La Seine Musicale has intertwined a large-scale, popular program with a demanding artistic vision. With  "Piano Inside ," a unique duo of piano and visual art offers an immersive experience that reinvents live performance and redefines the relationship between musician, instrument, and stage space. For this first edition of  "Piano Inside,"  pianist  Vanessa Wagner  and visual artist  Adrien Mondot,  both proponents of bridges that bring people together, pay  tribute to Philip Glass  . Repetition, color, timbre: the American composer's musical world questions our relationship to time and space, and invites us to break down barriers. While Glass
's music   is repetitive, it is not sterile. It develops like an organism that breathes, vibrates, lives. Atmospheric, hypnotic, and nostalgic with its minor harmonies, it moves forward, sometimes swirling. This is also the case for the works of Moondog, Arvo Pärt , Erik Satie and Brian Eno which will also enhance the musical program of this augmented recital.

Vanessa Wagner 's nuanced playing  , along with her infinitely varied textured touch, evokes and imprints visions on our inner retinas. Adrien Mondot's
visual creations  offer a grammar of light and movement that embraces the melodic lines without ever burying them under a spectacular cloak, providing the music with a contemplative counterpoint that prolongs the listening experience without commentary. The image thus responds directly to the music, thanks to real-time sound analysis, in sync with the pianist's breathing, fully inhabiting this music whose repetitions are not mechanical but vital, like the beating of a heart. The piano becomes the center of a constantly transforming dreamscape that enhances the Auditorium's architecture. Minimalist music, perhaps, but a maximalist concert experience, certainly!

Auditorium Patrick Devedjian

Nestled like a gem in a case of glass and wood, the Auditorium Patrick Devedjian is the centerpiece of our building. It can accommodate up to 1,150 spectators and is dedicated to acoustic music, featuring the greatest classical ensembles and musicians, foremost among them the resident orchestra: Insula orchestra.

Its appearance is open to interpretation: a bird's nest, a giant liner, "the ball"...

From the outside, its glass facade is protected and powered by a gigantic array of solar panels that moves in synchronization with the sun, overlooking the concrete liner.

From the inside, the 1,150-seat hall awakens our senses. Dedicated to classical music, jazz, and world music concerts, its light blonde wooden ceiling, cardboard tubes, and paper reveal all the secrets of the excellent acoustics of this stage.

Its Acoustics

Studied by the Nagata and Jean-Paul Lamoureux firm to ensure the best possible sound reproduction for the audience. All precautions have been taken to guarantee exceptional acoustics with the precision of a musical instrument.

Its Design

Modular, its vineyard-style arrangement creates a genuine proximity with the audience surrounding the artists. The interplay of lights, the beauty of materials (wood, mosaics, glass), and the 360° panorama are all designed to match the pleasure of the eyes with that of the ears.

Its design aims to create a sense of visual and acoustic intimacy shared between the audience and the musicians. The atmosphere of the hall is warm, with curved wooden walls and ceiling contributing to the hall’s unique sound identity. Access to the hall is provided on three levels by large suspended walkways offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. These are connected by large staircases forming a continuous promenade around the hall.
